A Married Couple Becomes Nervous About Their Hazardous And Abusive Drinking And Asks Themselves If They Display Any Alcoholism Signs

Lenny and Angie have been married for seven years. They wanted to have some fun and excitement before they decided to have a family and so they with forethought constructed an exceptionally dynamic social life.

The key issue, it needs to be highlighted, is that virtually everything they do socially includes drinking. For example, all of the happy hours, sporting events, family get-togethers, parties with friends, and dinner engagements they frequent include drinking.

If they were responsible or moderate drinkers this wouldn't be a major issue. Because they drink quite heavily, however, they are starting to observe some instantly noticeable alcohol-related issues in their lives.

For instance, just a few days ago Lenny was placed under arrest for a second DUI and has been calling off from work due to alcohol-related health issues. What is more, Lenny's last two performance reviews at work have been less than adequate and he has begun to fail to remember what he does or says while he drinks. Finally, Lenny has been going through sleep-related problems and his family has begun to exhibit apprehension about his drinking activities.

Angie, on the other hand, has been feeling dejected with life and to deal with this, she has been drinking more than any time in the past eight months. Moreover, Angie has been experiencing more than a few migraine headaches and suffering from very bad hangovers due to her drinking. Finally, Angie has been feeling significantly less energetic when she gets up in the morning, she has been getting to work late almost every Monday, and she has been getting some less than constructive criticism from her friends, coworkers, relatives, and family members about her unhealthy and abusive drinking.

One Friday evening while watching TV, Lenny and Angie flipped through the channels and found a fascinating documentary about alcohol facts and alcoholism facts in general and about alcoholism signs in particular. This TV program was a real source of revelation to Angie and Lenny because more than a few of the alcohol facts that were gone over seemed like they were directly related to many of the drinking problems Lenny and Angie had been experiencing.

With thoughts of the television special still fresh in her mind, Angie asked Lenny if some of the alcoholism signs they have been exhibiting could be a signal that they are addicted to alcohol or maybe becoming addicted to alcohol. Lenny didn't know the answer to Angie's question and so he recommended that they schedule an appointment with one of the therapists at the local alcohol rehab clinic to find out more about the severity of their drinking difficulties.

Ironically, although their drinking situation hadn't yet changed, it was apparent that Angie and Lenny were at least concentrating on their drinking difficulties, they were ready to find out more about their drinking behavior, and they were concerned about how they could appreciably cut back on or eliminate the alcohol-related problems that had begun to deteriorate even further.

When Angie and Lenny went to bed that evening, they came to a decision that the next morning, Lenny would call and schedule an appointment for both of them at the alcohol treatment center located just East of the State Capital. After they made a promise to one another that they would do whatever it takes to defeat the alcohol-related problems that had materialized in their lives, they in point of fact had the best night's sleep they could remember in the last five weeks.
